My Approach

I focus on simple services yet something profound can happen for clients. The simple techniques of massage are the framework of my effort. I add anatomically specific strokes, neuromuscular techniques (trigger point release and fascia stretches), and energy holds.  I expect to make a difference for each client.

"I have been a fan of Theresa for several years.  Not only the best massage therapist I have ever had, and I have had many, but just a wonderfully warm and caring person. I think she has magic in her hands!" -CS

Full-Body Massage... Enjoy calm, nurturing massage.

Sessions that simply hold space for "rest" can be profoundly helpful. I bring awareness to the emotional, physical, and energetical body. When a client asks for a relaxing session, I combine Esalen-style (long, slow effleurage), shiatsu-style (compressions along the meridians), neuromuscular technique (trigger point release), Swedish-style (petrissage and tapotement), polarity (energy holds), and Healing Presence (listening and following body rhythms).  Anatomically-specific massage bodywork, such as the neck-specific techniques from the guidebook, are integrated too.

Neck or Focused-Area Massage... Resolve muscle tension.

In my experience, when the muscles are calm the whole body can be calm. If there is an area that causes discomfort, it can be challenging to be fully functional. My bodywork can be very specific and deep, sometimes people do report feeling sore. They also report feeling relief from hard-to-resolve issues.

I am often requested for clients with upper back, neck, or head discomfort. Reese Murphy's effective neck massage techniques from the Spasmodic Torticollis Massage Guidebook, are integrated into my work. Clients report improvement and resolution after a single session or routine bodywork.

"Theresa has helped me manage my cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis) for well over a year. Her holistic approach to address individual needs and a sometimes difficult schedule has proven to be invaluable to me and my family. Most importantly, her therapy has had an impact on my day-to-day life, my pain management, and my range of motion - results of which are noticeable not only to me but also to my neurologists." - JS
